Client: McKenzie Club, Aberdeen
nes was commissioned by the McKenzie Club of Aberdeen to undertake survey and impact assessment of proposals to redevelop the Hazlehead Park Golf Course on the edge of Aberdeen. Proposals included reinstatement of the 1927 Mckenzie Course back to its original design, redesign of golf course No.2 and a new 9 hole par 3 course. Other proposals included a 5 star hotel and golf lodges, a golf academy and practice range, a new equestrian centre, extended shooting range facilities, improvements to existing sports facilities and associated playing fields, and improvements to forest walks and trails.
Hazlehead Park comprises the formal park gardens, playing fields, the golf courses and significant areas of surrounding woodland with trails that are heavily used for walking and riding. nes undertook protected species and vegetation surveys of the golf courses and woodland to identify sensitive areas that need to be taken into account in the site design, and to inform the ecological impact assessment of the proposed development.
